Why teams are leaving Loom.
Since Atlassian acquired Loom, users have been vocal about pricing hikes, reliability issues, and missing features. These are their real posts on X.
I recorded ~1600 videos with @loom and paid all Business+AI plans @Atlassian asked for, but now they want to charge my viewers (!) for downloading my videosπ€¦ββοΈ Why products are getting worse at the expense of experience? (looking for alternatives)
Welp, today this is no better. Can't sign in to @loom to view any of my videos or make new ones. No response from @Atlassian either. Bummed. What product are you all using instead of Loom? :/
@whale @loom @Atlassian Same problem today, completely broken. Garbaggio work @Atlassian, give us our working product back
@forgebitz You still use Loom? We replaced it with Zoom Clips
Hey @Atlassian, please don't break @loom. It's one of my all time favorite products. I just got kicked out and can't auth in. I'm a little grumpy about it.
@BrandonAWood @Atlassian @loom Nope. Not yet. Today I was unable to auth in. Hope they fix it.
@pie6k Paid for Loom, then Tella. Was about to switch to until the pay-once plan disappeared. Open-source alternatives exist. What does $29/month actually justify? Asking as a founder dealing with the same pricing question myself.
.@Atlassian really fumbled the ball with their @loom login change. Officially taking longer to login then it does to record a loom. What recs do you have for an alternative??
@forgebitz Someone build loom alternative where you charge low for the software and user can use their Cloudflare R2/AWS/Blackblaze/Hetzner S3. I would use it.
@forgebitz @grok can you give basic alternative for @loom plus i want to build a similar tool gove an idea how?
@whale @loom @Atlassian just switched to @supercut_video and digging it!
@themmyleke @alecbabaei @forgebitz exactly this. I built as a loom alternative β no time limits, no watermark, runs entirely in the browser. no VC backing, just me solving a problem I kept hitting. would love honest feedback if anyone tries it
π¨Google just killed Tella & Loom and threw in features to make pretty videos. With , you can record your screen, generate videos with prompts, and edit videos all in one platform. Check it out:
@vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian Building Boom, a headless Loom alternative. Hit me up if you want to learn more
@whale @loom @Atlassian CleanshotX mate, this is a sad time for Loom, once an amazing product!
@loom is getting worse ever since @Atlassian bought them. any alternative?
@daemkl @pie6k If using it as a Loom replacement for sharing, video hosting and delivery have real ongoing costs.
@vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian I am already thinking to self hosted an alternative even I would brand the domain name. These guys went nuts whenever Atlassian acquired them
@BolatwtX 100% worth it. Loom just keeps getting more expensive and people are actively looking for alternatives. I actually built for exactly this, screen + webcam + audio with instant shareable links. The market is there.
Loom is great for screen recording. But if your frustration is with video hosting and delivery, sharing videos with clients, embedding on websites, permanent links without ads or compression, thatβs a different problem. I built @snap_vid for exactly that side of it. What
@arvidkahl @Atlassian every loom alternative is about to have a very good week
@RemingtonBegg @Atlassian @loom I'm not fully off Loom, but @TellaHQ is great. ClickUp Clips does 75% of the stuff and then ClickUp AI automatically has all your teams transcripts, but there are still cases where I want Loom/Tella features
@forgebitz @CleanShot ez lol single payment same Thing but better than loom
@alecbabaei @forgebitz Hi Alec, Loom is great for screen recording. But if your frustration is with video hosting and delivery, sharing videos with clients, embedding on websites, permanent links without ads or compression, thatβs a different problem. I built @snap_vid for exactly that side of it.
@vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian come check out @TellaHQ! we donβt charge your viewers to download your videos :)
@vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian neetorecord! we migrated from loom to it
how to fumble a nicely working core loop of a product? >be @Atlassian > buy loom > force new users to create a team space immediately > make them wait 2 minutes while setting a space (before atlassian it was just login>start recording)
@vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian Ive been using cap and its great
(After the sixth attempt and 45 minutes of trying to successfully record) Loom: βNice! You saved your team 10 minutes of meeting time!β *video controls disappear from screen* *audio drops halfway through recording* *takes 7 minutes to process video* *clip editor crashes
Loom getting acquired by @Atlassian always felt like it would end the same way: More corporate. More packaging. Higher prices. And now itβs here. Loom is increasing pricing from $10/user/month to $18/user/month on the plan I'm on. The part that really got me was the
Loom moving their prices to $24/month is asking for disruption. $15 was perfect. nobody is using loom AI lool
@whale @loom @Atlassian Haven't used it personally but have seen lots of positive feedback from users of Cap.
@vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian it's the usual progression of tech corporates, or as I call it "exiting fan-only mode" why not using screen studio or cap?
@bootstrappedceo "record. capture. ship." describes every screen recorder. what makes poko different is the built-in editing: cursor zoom, captions, device frames, all without leaving the app. people are getting irritated with loom these days. that's the positioning loom left on the table.
My favorite feature of @loom is how you get warning messages to subscribe or your shit is going to be deleted and then you click the payment link and get this really cool payment page so your shit doesnβt get deleted. And then after you fuck around for 5 minutes trying to get to
@whale @Atlassian @loom me neither. how to screw up a good product... #atlassian
time to leave @loom might as well build my own tool at this point
@mutlu82 @MindaugasLT @vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian Yes, but you should still be able to download your videos. I did not receive that heads up unfortunately. I had only recorded 3 vids during their beta and was unable to download them.
@mutlu82 @MindaugasLT @vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian Yes, their 'free beta' ended. I get that... but i simply wanted to download the videos i recorded during that 'free beta'.... is that unreasonable? Not new ones. Their support explicitly told me to signup on a paid plan to access my videos.....
@MindaugasLT @vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian You guys do the exact same thing, you locked me out of my account and i can't even download my OWN videos. lol all these tools are complete trash unfortunately !
@whale @Atlassian @loom Same thing here. I cannot log in now they moved everything to @Atlassian. Did you find a solution?
@natmiletic @forgebitz Loom the video software? We use Tella now. @KaiCromwell made me aware of it.
what a shitty manipulative email subject by @loom great way to get users
The vision will be clear soon leaving this here if the creator delivers on his promises this is a better version of LOOM valued at over 100m currently
@whale @Atlassian @loom I have tried everything. I will try again today. Funny thing, I canβt figure out a way to contact customer support about the issue without logging in.
@AmenaiSabuwala @loom Clean. The recorder UI looks a lot less cluttered than what they're shipping now. Would love to see how you handled the editing timeline, that's where Loom's current design gets a bit messy.
@MindaugasLT @vilinskyy @loom @Atlassian Much much much worse in terms of everything: app performance, UX, video processing speed.
